Astro still has a few years left though, and if ever there were a not-broke-don’t-fix-it situation it’s the A40. Most of these “edgy” designs age out, but the A40 doesn’t look dated yet-which is not to say it won’t eventually. And why not? The A40 is an icon, especially the exposed metal rods that protrude through the headband. Otherwise, the A40 is essentially frozen in time. I knew what I was getting into especially since I have a next gen console. That’s it! That’s the one change! (Maybe.) Just make sure you do your research beforehand. They did take some force to turn the earcups, but now are good. I guess they needed to loosen up a little. It seems to have disappeared now after taking them off and swivelling the earcups sideways a few times. Every time I moved my head the earcup would creak a little. Only gripe I had in the beginning was the creaking sound from the right earcup. For what I paid I expected more metal material? All in all it feels sturdy and should last a long time. Not happy about the all plastic build (except the metal rails). I was very surprised at how light these are when I picked them up out of the box. Anyone here have any experience with the mod kit? Maybe the mod kit earcups will change that? I've heard that they are less comfortable to the mesh earcups. It isn't hurting or anything, just slightly annoying at times. I'm going to give it some time, hopefully it breaks in a little. I've adjusted the headband and it fits snug. The left is fine, not sure if I have it on properly. Also I feel a slight pressure on the underside of my right ear when wearing them. For some reason I expected the earcups to be a lot softer than they are now. 'Most comfortable headset on the market' they say. From every review I watched, they praise the comfort. Overall very pleased with the sound quality.Ĭomfort is good. Didn't think it was going to work and just be a muffled/echoey mess, but it does. Using the Dolby mode made hearing footsteps sound more prominent. No muffled sounds or echoes, it just works. Apparently the sound quality is terrible without the optical port, but in my experience it sounds great! I didn't want to spend more money on an adapter, so I'm glad it works fine. I was very worried about how they might sound through usb on my PS5. I use Dolby Atmos on PC in the star mode and it works flawlessly. I can hear footsteps miles away, really helps. I played around with some EQ's for Warzone. Being able to change EQ's on the fly is great. The sound quality is amazing!!! Having the mixamp is a definite improvement to that. Well I bit the bullet and bought the A40TR yesterday for PC/PS4. Safe to say that I nearly didn't buy the A40's and would've went with another company. So many posts on here were always quite negative from frustrations with poor customer service, to the headsets themselves not working properly. Always wanted Astro's since everyone talks about how great they sound, but the price was always a deterrent. I've been following this sub for a while reading everyone's post doing my research and deciding which headset to buy. This is the first Astro product I've owned.
